ANSWERS

Why does every tool give me a different number?

Because most of what tools report is modelled, not measured, and every model is built differently.

won't claim to have solved that. will tell you which of your numbers are observed and which are estimates.

WHAT IS ACTUALLY MEASURED

Two kinds of number, and only one is a fact.

Verified

Observed. Your positions, your pages, what an engine actually said when asked.

Estimated

Modelled. Search volume, traffic estimates, competitor figures. Useful for direction, not for a board paper.

THE RULE FOLLOWS

Every figure carries its label.

Wherever a number appears, the label appears with it. You will never present an estimate as a fact because did not tell you which it was.

AND WHO TO BELIEVE

Your own Search Console, over all of us.

Including over . Search Console is the only first party record of what actually happened on your site. Any tool that tells you to trust its estimate over your own data is selling, not measuring.
